六歲的瑪莉安是一個伊朗移民小女孩，即將展開她在瑞典社會的適應之旅，褐膚黑眼的她，與週遭金髮碧眼的同學們格格不入。雖然瑞典為少數移民提供完備的學習輔助，但瑪莉安依然在學習與社交方面都落後其他孩子，她只能試著以其他方式獲得同儕的注意力。影片細膩地呈現小女孩敏感的內心世界與掙扎。
In a Stockholm suburb, children from all over the world go to a school to learn Swedish. All of them have just arrived in Sweden. Six-year-old Maryam from Iran is the last to arrive. The film follows her struggle to grasp the mysteries of a new
language and to find her feet in all that is new. How does one express oneself sufficiently to make friends, without having the words to do so?
