育幼院中被遺棄的孩子們渴望被愛，他們懇求早已情同父母的養護員別離開他們，也掙扎於親生父母與養父母之間的情感拉扯。影片以平實卻細膩的手法，細細描述養護員對孩子們無微不至的照料與教導，在點點滴滴中萃釀出濃濃的日式生活況味。而在離別之際，孩子的淒厲嘶喊，更一次次錐痛人心。

In "the house of the child of the light", children who cannot live with their blood relatives, for reasons such as abuse or child neglect, grow a special bond with the staff there. The film documents the close relationship among them and reflects on the collapse of family in modern Japanese society.
