2008年，在舉國迎接北京奧運的同時，那些中國古老的建築、文化還有最重要的人情味兒，正一點一滴的消失。
Beijing is experiencing the most rapid redevelopment of a city since the redevelopment of 19th Century Paris. By 2009 little of Old Beijing remains.
Beijing resident ZJANG Jin-qi launched an inspirational project to photograph Qianmen and other districts facing demolition, getting local residents to document their neighborhoods. With funds from the Ford Foundation the project grew to include six Chinese cities. In January 2009 ZHANG and colleagues open “Memory of China:, the photo exhibition of vanishing Chinese cultural heritage.
With 400 cities of the size of Beijing planned by 2020 China has little time to reflect on its past.
