2009 年8月8日發生台灣文獻以來最大的水災，造成中南部原住民族莫大的苦難，可謂現代的大洪水。
本片運用寓言動畫和紀實影像，企圖從鄒族文化及價值觀點探討這次水災，天災背後囤積了複雜的經濟結構與歷史因素……
The Tsou people of Taiwan have a legend about a flood that happened in the ancient times. A crab stood out and destroyed the flood-causing eel. Recently in August 8th, 2009, Typhoon Morakot caused a flood that washed away landscapes and homes. However, in this story, there is no crab to save the people.
The New Flood is a documentary that shows the devastation of the Eight-Eight Taiwan Flood from the eyes of the victims. In this critically acclaimed film, elders draw upon history, culture, and tradition to try to make sense of this disaster.
