2010年大地震重創海地，斷垣殘壁的景象至今仍是處處可見。因天災失去父母的孩童保守估計已超過二十萬人。長期存在的「寄養童奴」也在震後數量激增至四十五萬人，這些孩童被稱為「被留下的人」，通常都是從社會最底層招募，還有些窮苦家庭為了能減輕家中經濟負擔，而送他們去富人家裏幹活。NHK以人性關懷的角度，從十三歲女孩茱莉安尼斯的遭遇談起，希望世人能正視海地孤兒的問題。
Haiti was hit by a crippling earthquake in 2010. Rubble still lies on the streets as the recovery stalls. Children known as "restavecs" live in particularly harsh circumstances. These children have been sent to foster homes by their impoverished parents to be brought up, but in many cases, they are forced to do domestic work and not allowed to go to school, and some are abused. This program reveals the harsh reality that these children are forced to endure because of poverty and the damage from the earthquake by focusing on the plight of a 13-year-old restavec named Julianise.
