2010年大地震重創海地，斷垣殘壁的景象至今仍是處處可見。因天災失去父母的孩童保守估計已超過二十萬人。長期存在的「寄養童奴」也在震後數量激增至四十五萬人，這些孩童被稱為「被留下的人」，通常都是從社會最底層招募，還有些窮苦家庭為了能減輕家中經濟負擔，而送他們去富人家裏幹活。NHK以人性關懷的角度，從十三歲女孩茱莉安尼斯的遭遇談起，希望世人能正視海地孤兒的問題。
Haiti was hit by a crippling earthquake in 2010. Rubble still lies on the streets as the recovery stalls. Children known as "restavecs" live in particularly harsh circumstances. These children have been sent to foster homes by their impoverished parents to be brought up, but in many cases, they are forced to do domestic work and not allowed to go to school, and some are abused. This program reveals the harsh reality that these children are forced to endure because of poverty and the damage from the earthquake by focusing on the plight of a 13-year-old restavec named Julianise.

Utilizing NHK's exclusive footage and amateur videos, Surviving the Tsunami gives viewers a comprehensive look at the destructive power of the catastrophic tsunami on March 11th, 2011, and the extraordinary tales of human survival. Surviving the Tsunami shows exclusive NHK footage on ground and from the air in the badly-hit Tohoku region, only minutes after the earthquake, following the event closely as it unfolded. Together with invaluable videos recorded by local residents, the documentary provides an in-depth analysis of the mechanism of the tsunami and reveals how some people made narrow escapes.

2009 年 8 月 8 日莫拉克風災打亂全國秩序,毀了小林人遮風避雨的家。到底是天災,還是人禍?眾人 直指曾文水庫越域引水工程,但未見兩黨互指不是、 互揭瘡疤。小林人大聲吶喊「小林人的生命不可白 白喪失!」但政客們極有默契對此選擇閉口。超級 明星災區變成有心人士的重建大餅,分歧的聲音使 得永久屋分隔三地。然而永久屋是在地上,還是在天堂呢?
On August 8, 2009, Typhoon Morakot created havoc across Taiwan. It also obliterated the village of Hsiaolin, killing many who were sheltering from the storm. Was this tragedy the result of a natural disaster? Or was human negligence involved? The transbasin construction on the Tsengwen Reservoir was regarded by many as the chief culprit. The two main political parties did not engage in their usual finger pointing and opening of old wounds. To the call that "the residents of Hsiaolin Village should not die in vain," politicians across party lines remained silent.

2009 年台灣的八八風災,迄今才兩年多,卻已遭人 們逐漸淡忘,但災民自己不曾遺忘,仍不懈奮鬥, 通過自助互助,謀求重生與重建。同樣地,八八風 災與 2008 年四川五一二大地震,兩岸人民對彼此的 支援、互助,已遭台灣淡忘,但災民自己卻拒絕遺 忘。本片即是一個影像的物件,把兩岸災民拒絕遺 忘、對抗遺忘的行動記錄下來,因而,影像的物件 本身,也是一場對抗遺忘的行動。
After the 512 Wenchuan earthquake in China in 2008 and the 88 flood in Taiwan in 2009, the amount of caring, support and donation from either side of the Taiwan Strait to the other were unprecedented. The 512 Wenchuan earthquake and the 88 flood have been two of the most important events for Taiwan and China in recent years because these natural disasters drew the people on both side of the strait closer than ever. Despite the fact that they have been quickly forgotten by the people in Taiwan, the victims refuse to forget.
