一個沒有醫療保險的工人在工作意外中，兩隻手指頭被電鋸截斷，醫生告訴他接合中指要六萬美元，接合無名指要一萬兩千美元。因沒有醫療保險，他無可奈何地選擇接上「較便宜」的無名指。這樣荒謬的開場確確實實發生在美國！以《科倫拜校園事件》以及《華氏911》榮獲多項大獎，成為全世界鎂光燈焦點，導演麥可摩爾再次用他嘲諷又幽默的批判風格，揭開美國醫療保險系統中的種種弊端。

The words "health care" and "comedy" aren't usually found in the same sentence, but in Academy Award winning filmmaker Michael Moore's new movie SiCKO, they go together hand in (rubber) glove. Opening with profiles of several ordinary Americans whose lives have been disrupted, shattered, and—in some cases—ended by health care catastrophe, the film makes clear that the crisis doesn't only affect the 47 million uninsured citizens—millions of others who dutifully pay their premiums often get strangled by bureaucratic red tape as well.
